Senior Citizens Scotland is affiliated to Glasgow’s Golden Generation, our charity caring for the elderly in their Autumn years.

We aim to improve the quality of life of older adults in Glasgow through a variety of services ranging from our 3 day care centres, clubs and activities, community support, dementia awareness and support, volunteering, befriending and welfare services.

There are also 2 charity shops in Glasgow: one in Partick and, more recently in Shawlands, both of which helps to fund the above projects.

Benefits Advice

“Our team of skilled Welfare Officers provide a unique service including home visits advising each client of benefit entitlement. This includes Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit and Personal Independence Payment. The Welfare Officers are accredited through the Department for Work and Pensions to verify documents when applying for benefits which means documents don’t need to be posted. Non-means tested benefits such as Attendance Allowance triggers other allowances to older adults, including housing and council tax benefit.”

Charity ShopS

We now have two charity shops located in Partick and Shawlands which both offer a friendly retail service. A free collection service is available for furniture donations. We also offer home deliveries and house clearances at competitive prices. Shop van days are currently Monday to Friday. Please get in touch!

Gift Aid is a scheme enabling registered charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, effectively increasing the amount of the donation.

To qualify as a gift-aider you need to be a UK tax payer, some private pensions are valid for tax and therefore means you qualify to be a gift-aider also.

Before you sign up for gift aid, please be aware that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in that tax year it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

As a registered charity under the retail gift aid scheme we act as an agent and sell the goods on the donor’s behalf, once the sale is complete we can then claim an added 25% from the HMRC on top of the sales made by your donated items.

If you would like to sign up for our gift aid scheme, please feel free to ask next time you are donating in our shop or ring and speak to the shop manager about signing up.
